Creating a Giant

Inspired by France’s “The Giants Spectacular" and “Walk With Amal,” we decided to create our own living giant. Over the course of a year, my team at the University of Massachusetts - Amherst designed a marionette to be powered by human bodyweight that could move, articulate, and express itself. My work was focused on engineering and building the joints of this wood and steel being, which was paraded down the streets of Amherst, MA on Founder’s Day 2020.
